Information for a VERY BUSY WEEK! 3.11.19.
Posted 3/10/2019 at 4:29:37 PM by Luretha Crosby-Guard [staff member]
So many things will happen this week!
  • Data Talks
    • The 6th grade team will meet with each 6th grade student to discuss their MAP test results and their likely performance on the GA Milestones.
    • Students will get a letter that will help them discuss their results with their families. Families need to fill in the letter and return it to school for a grade.
  • Band performance
    •  Bring your instruments on the days that you have practice!
    • You will be expected to complete all assignments, including what was done in class. Turn in all homework before you leave for a trip.
  • Pi Day
    • Only bring pencil, paper, agenda, and any homework due. Everything else can stay at home.

    Homework for the Week

Task 2 for Unit III

  • What do I have to do?
    • With the other members of your group, translate your novel into a movie.
    • Your final product will be:
      •      either a movie poster or a movie trailer
        • show the climax of your novel's plot
      • and a blog post exlaining your choices as a filmmaker.
        • Which actors will play the roles of the PROTAGONIST and ANTAGONIST? Why?
        • Will you change the setting  (time and place) or keep it the same as the text? Why?
        • Will you tape a live-action movie or animate it? Why?
        •  Why did you pick the scene(s) you chose for the trailer/poster? Explain what makes this the climax of the story.
  • How will it be graded?
    1. Follow the instructions above.
    2. Use the rubric for blog posts to grade yourself before submitting your work. THAT IS THE SAME RUBRIC I WILL USE.

Data Talk Letter

  • After having the Data Talk with your teachers, sit down with your parents and explain the information on the letter.
  • Assist your family in filling out the information at the bottom of the page.
  • Return that portion of the letter to school for a homework grade.
  • THE REST OF THE LETTER STAYS AT HOME FOR YOU TO USE.

Revised HW Assignment for Friday
Posted 9/21/2018 at 1:29:54 PM by Luretha Crosby-Guard [staff member]
Why I revised the HW: When I read the written responses submitted for the CommonLit assignments, I felt that I needed to take a moment with all my classes to explicate the process of writing an acceptable written response. Why do I need to revise: You short answer response was far below 6th grade standards and needs to be revised to reflect the level of understanding and instruction you have gained up to this point. EVERYONE WHO SCORED BELOW 3 (0, 1, 2) MUST REVISE! What needs to be revised: On Wednesday, you were given a choice to read either "All Summer in a Day" or "Tuesday of the Other June". You will revise the assignment for the story that your group chose to read. YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THE ASSIGNMENT THAT YOUR GROUP CHOSE TO READ IN CLASS! YOU DO NOT COMPLETE BOTH ASSIGNMENTS AT HOME! What if my assignment was never reset? That probably means that you scores a 3 or higher on the assignment and are not required to revise. Check your score on your CommonLit account. When is this due? All revisions are due Monday September 24th. Points will be deducted afterwards.
